Cobix 200 mg (Celecoxib Capsules)
About Cobix 200 mg
Cobix 200 mg is composed of celecoxib. It is produced and sold in India by Cipla Laboratories. Celecoxib is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) type of medication that is primarily used for relief of pain and inflammation.
In the US, celecoxib is known as Celebrex, which is considered to be equivalent.
Cobix 200 mg is used for:
- Acute pain
- Primary dysmenorrhoea (painful menstrual cramps)
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
How Does Cobix 200 Work?
Cobix 200 inhibits an enzyme, COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2). This enzyme then makes prostaglandins that can lead to pain and inflammation.
Celecoxib is effective in preventing pain due to inhibiting the production of prostaglandins.
- Lower inflammation
- Reduce pain.
- Decrease fever.
Unlike most other NSAIDs, celecoxib is a COX-2 inhibitor which, at therapeutically relevant concentrations, does not inhibit COX-1.
